LOOKBOOK: SKATER SKIRT

The skater skirt is probably the most demanded piece of the season - it's very easy to spot someone wearing it on the streets, and even on blogs. Almost every girl has it, varying in hue, texture, pattern, or material. This trend is timeless - very basic and easy to mix and match without being too plain or boring. It has also gave birth to even more fads in the same category, like midis and maxis. We might be seeing this piece as a replacement for bottoms we are used to.
After weeks of procrastination and, I quote, valid, excuses that includes "I have more gift shopping to do" (which only results in more new clothes for me and no presents for them) and "I need to study for the inter-city spelling bee finals" (where I lost because I've never heard of 'cyme' before and because I reviewed for it by reading A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks), here is the skater skirt lookbook I have promised a few posts ago! I used my friends as models and ~*styled*~ using their own clothes too.

Look 1: Black skater skirt + floral bustier + platform sneakers + flower crown
Wearing your skirt with a bralet is all the rage, but it isn't really modest enough. Choose a milder print and skip all the leather and grungy fabric, then add a statement headpiece to complete the sweetheart image.

Look 2: Royal blue skater skirt + muscle tee + oxfords + sunnies
Wearing a tight top with a flowy bottom could improve the outfit's contrast.

Look 3: Black skater skirt + tie-waist chambray top + dotted flats
Tie-waist tops create a shape on the wearer's waist, exuding an hourglass. Chambray has also been on everyone's radar since it has the characteristics of denim without being too heavy or thick. It is the perfect substitute for denim tops that are way too warm for comfort.

Look 4: Royal blue skater skirt + crop top + oxfords
This ensemble is really simple, hence details and tweaks are key.

I'm reminding you guys that the four looks here are just templates, meaning three-piece outfits. I didn't add anything like layers or multiple accessories because I'd like to keep the slate as minimal as possible, driving the imagination crazy instead of dictating to it.

There you have it! My month of inspiration loss has been rewarded with overflowing ideas this December, hence more posts! Outfit soon. x.

  8. Skater skirts are the best, I wear mine with everything. The shape of them is so perfect that they do go with just about everything! I love look one, the floral bustier looks so pretty. I'm a little obsessed with bustiers at the moment, I'm desperate to buy one from Nasty Gal. xx
