FEEL TRIP

A list of the cutest romantic movies you will ever see. So much feels.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Aside from the constant close-ups of teenage Joseph Gordon-Levitt's signature smitten facial expression, its unconventional take on the cliche I'm-only-dating-you-because-of-a-bet/I'm-being-paid, lovable characters, and witty dialogue ("Oh see, that, there. Who needs affection when I have blind hatred?") is what won my heart. Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) is also no damsel in distress and has become my favorite fictional feminist. Besides, who doesn't want to watch a movie with Heath Ledger?
Hopefully not you. (Watch the trailer here)

Juno (2007)
This is one of my favorite movies with Michael Cera's face, and it's surprisingly light despite being about teen pregnancy. Juno (Ellen Page) is so likeable I could just listen to her talk for hours on end, and I found myself rooting for her even if she ignores Paulie (Michael Cera) for a good while. The cinematography also made me weak at the knees. It's brutally honest yet it fills you with so much hope - this will make you laugh, cry, and maybe even carry around orange Tic-Tacs. Not that I did. (Watch the trailer here)

He's Just Not That Into You (2009)
A crossover of love stories like Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve, He's Just Not That Into You explores the obstacles that two people go through all in the name of surprise-surprise, love. My favorite thing about this movie is probably the fact that not everyone got their love interest in the end, because that's just the way it really is, and, as stated in the film, we don't need another person to validate our worth. Listen closely to the little speech Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) does before it ends - it always makes me cry (but come to think of it, I always cry at movies). (Watch the trailer here)

Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
May I present to you, the movie that always makes my heart flutter. Each scene looks like it's been grabbed straight from a story book, and the plot (two young lovers run away together) just makes me drown in my giggles. I have to admit, there are some dull moments, but after you finish it, it just makes you feel some type of way. It stays in your head for days, and it makes you believe that love can really conquer all. YOUR HEART WILL SWELL. If you aren't convinced enough, Wes Anderson directed this. *mic drop* (Watch the trailer here)

Best of Me (2014)
What will this list be without some Nicholas Sparks? Some of his movies are a bit too cheesy for my taste but this takes the cake (and my heart). Technically this is a sad movie, and if you think you're done crying after one scene, you're probably wrong, but even if both young and old Dawson and Amanda's love stories conclude in a devastating note, it's still a love story filled with so much hope and sunshine - it has so much light that plants grow toward it.
And isn't Luke Bracey the closest we can get to a Heath Ledger reincarnation? (Watch the trailer here)

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008)
OKAY SO MAYBE THIS IS THE SECOND MOVIE IN THIS LIST WITH MICHAEL CERA'S FACE SO WHAT LET ME LIVE. Words will never be enough to explain how much I was imploding with emotions when I watched this movie - even seeing these pictures alone got me smiling and giggling again. Everyone kept saying the book was better but that doesn't mean this film was any less cuter!!! !! !!!! You'd be indulging a few minutes of Kat Dennings in a school uniform, so much good music (rock out to the soundtrack here), clips of the ever pretty New York at night, maybe even some good 'ol relationship advice from Nick's gay friends, and the cutest otp to ever grace my laptop screen.

Michael Cera and Kat Dennings have always been my favorite actors but I never really pictured them together but when I did, my world has never been the same. They are the pairing I never thought I needed in my life, but I never knew how much I wanted them to be together until after seeing this. "Keep making out!", "WhAt are you doING don't leave Norah for THAT", and "yeeEEes Michael and Kat RISE" may or may not have been yelled at the screen while I was watching, and I may or may not have been ugly-crying in the dark after the credits stopped rolling. I CAN TALK ABOUT THIS FOREVER.
LOOK AT THEM. JUST LOOK AT THEM AND TELL ME THEY DON'T LOOK CUTE TOGETHER. I DARE YOU. I DOUBLE-FRICKING-DARE YOU. (I'm so tempted to add another gif. I HAVE LIKE TWENTY OF THEM WHAT DO I DO)
Oh what the heck. Here's another gif. BASK IN THE GLORY THAT IS NICK AND NORAH.
This pretty much sums it up. If I could scream for five minutes through text, I would have. (Watch the trailer here)

Flipped (2010)
Okay, let me just say this straight up - I initially planned to add a 'Movies' category to this blog only because I wanted to talk about Flipped. Can you blame me if this is such an adorable movie and has this whole warm vibe to it? It has loads (read: loads) of life lessons (be sure to read the book too!), the cutest soundtrack, and characters that are so easy on the eyes, all dressed in these cute little 60's outfits. It's also told in two different point of views, and it's just inevitable to fall in love with this movie, and Bryce Loski.

Oh, Bryce Loski. How could I even begin to write about Bryce Loski?

Fifteen-year-old Callan McAuliffe plays the incredibly, incredibly dreamy Mr. Loski, and man, is he so easy on the eyes. I actually had to pause the film so many times just so I could admire the personification of a summer day that is Callan McAuliffe. Lo and behold, the most beautiful collage you will ever lay your eyes on:
And he's even prettier in motion:
It's mighty heartbreaking to find out he's not really blonde (I KNOW I KNOW) but even five years later, he still looks dashin' (and is incredibly witty), and he still!! has!! the little crook in his teeth. This is valuable information. (Watch the trailer here)

The list was supposed to end here, but here are four more movies, just for the sake of it:
Adventureland (2009)
Love, Rosie (2014)
The DUFF (2015)
CAN MAE WHITMAN STAR IN EVERY MOVIE PLS (trailer)
The Spectacular Now (2013)

There you have it, folks. Happy giggling.

  1. Hi Andrea, I was definitely smiling while looking at the GIFs and the images. All the couples look so adorable together, and you certainly picked out the best photos. :) It must have taken you some time to choose them, and I think you did a pretty good job because they're really convincing, and they do make me feel like I want to watch them. :) I haven't actually watched some of the movies you mentioned, but I've always been meaning to watch some of them like Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, it's just that I haven't got the time yet. Best of Me and Moonrise Kingdom sounds interesting. I love romantic comedies, they're really fun to watch, it's such a great genre. Thank you for sharing this! :)

I've got this bookmarked for those lonely, chocolate-consuming evenings spent in bed with the lights off. :') Thanks for sharing!
