THIS ISN'T A QUARTER-LIFE CRISIS ANYMORE

I just took a Buzzfeed quiz and found out that I'm more like John Watson than Sherlock Holmes. I don't know what I expected.

Binge-reading Buzzfeed anecdotes aside, (I took a very, very long pause after writing that as I suddenly realize that I have nothing other than binge-reading Buzzfeed anecdotes) these pictures were taken during a Baguio trip two years ago. I don't know why I'm posting such outdated pictures, probably because it's already June and the Philippine weather is still breaking my heart. My huge array of oversized sweaters isn't exactly a staple in a hot summer day.
We went to the usual tourist-y spots: Bell Church, the strawberry fields, and Burnham Park. It was cold enough to wear thick sweaters and large chambray button-downs but still warm enough for shorts - my heart almost lost its place.
Anyway, I finally transferred to a bigger school (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and I won't have classes until July. Usually I'll pressure myself to be productive and use all this free time to learn an instrument or maybe cure cancer, but this time I just let myself slip into this lethargic abyss filled with movies with Michael Cera's face and occasionally, some watercolors. I haven't done this in a while - I am your typical school prodigy and it took me by surprise that I didn't create a schedule and forced myself to follow it religiously. It gave me time to think (I discovered that I haven't been doing that for a while too) and figure out what sort of creative projects I wanted to dive into without the fear of not meeting my standards. To other people (like my mom) (and probably you, too), what I'm doing seems like plain old laziness and refusal to participate, but really I'm just trying my best to take all of this - the people, the events, the world - in - something we rarely do nowadays.
I've lost interest in things I found worthwhile (i.e. social media) and began just sitting down and breathing it all in. I'd write, I'd draw these squiggly lines using different colored pencils (my only talent), I'd paint just for the sake of getting my fingers dirty, I'd cry at movies (I cry at almost every movie I watch now; the latest perpetrator is Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, which coincidentally, has Michael Cera's face). Since all of my friends are busy with school, I finally had the chance to hang out with myself. It's kinda like an existential crisis, but somewhat happier. I'm not pressured by the number of likes my latest Instagram picture gets anymore, and I feel like I'm finally having fun.
With that being said, I'd hopefully work on my blog more!! *herald angels sing* I added a couple categories and gave it a much needed face-lift. I have so many ideas (one of which may include Michael Cera's face), so I'll catch you guys soon. xx

Update: I took this Buzzfeed quiz even in the absence of a 'significant other' to see if I'd get Patrick Verona and Katarina Stradford, and guess what? I got a result with Michael Cera's face.

  4. Andrea, I like that you just took time to think... we don't do this enough anymore, instead we fill it with things that are not important. I love that you don't care how many likes you get on you Instagram... I like Instagram but it's more like my picture diary for me than anything else.

Thank you for your comment on my blog. The reason I found someone who knows my worth is because I finally know my own worth.. it's a nice feeling..

  6. Late or not, these pictures are gorgeous. I just went to Japan last Nov/Dec and am itching to make my next travel plans. Clearly I should put the Philippines on my list of destinations for 2016. This year, I think we're going to Sweden. Thanks for sharing & inspiring me.
